This is one of the interesting part from the book 'Desperately Seeking Paradise'. Written by Ziauddin Sardar.
It's Al-Ghazali's Schema for travel.
"The first class traveler goes in search for knowledge that eventually transform him and leads him to paradise.
The second class, as one could expect is occupied by sturdy, sensible, middle class worthies bent on improving themselves: those who travel for the sake of worship, going on a pilgrimage to Mecca, from there where return purified with a new active religious consciousness, humbled by their experience and more conscious of their social duties. These are the praiseworthy classes of travel.
Third class contains the upwardly mobile, aspiring working classes and refuges: Travellers who are escaping from persecution or economic misery- they seek changes in their material well-being as well as their ability to practice their faith. This is a ‘permissible’ class of travel. In Muslim sensibilities it is rather more , in fact. The very first Muslim community was formed just by such seeker: the Islamic calendar begins in the year 622 CE with the migration or Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Medina to escape persecution and economic sanction.
The fourth class, those lurking in the streerage hold, are ‘problematic’, comprising travelers who are escaping from things that are harmful to the body such as plague or what depreciates wealth such as inflation- this travel is not permitted and can actually be blameworthy or undesirable: fleeing a plague will not prevent one from catching it but it could actually spread it.."
So now.. we know that not just air flight ticket catogarize us. And for me, I'm choosing the first class travel. Let me be like a mystic... and InSya' Allah.. I'll be on the road in 2 or 1 month time. INSYA' ALLAH KHAIR.
